Hi, my name is Isabell Wyborski,
I was an intern at Atlas Copco from January 2018 to April 2018. During my experience at Atlas Copco, I started out in electrical engineering, when they found out that I was more interested into mechanical engineering, I was moved into the mechanical engineering team. Through most of my 90 hours, I worked with a drafting engineer and was taught how to run the programs SolidWorks, and AutoCad. I was taught that in a business culture, you have to wear "business clothing" such as, blouses, dress pants, dresses, skirts, but at Atlas Copco, you don't have to dress "business casual". At Atlas, you can wear jeans and a nice shirt every day. There are only a few times you have to dress up - when there is a tour from another company of our company space, or if a higher up from the company visits our location. While I was interning at Atlas, I would go to meetings with customers and other colleagues, practice the Solidworks, and shadow all different types of engineers. In meetings with customers, we would show the customer the plans for their tools, and talk with them about possible changes to their tool. After we met with the customers, we would have our own design review with our people to talk about how to change the tool to fit the customer's needs. The only thing I would change about my experience at Atlas Copco would be towards the end. Towards the end of the internship, I was pushed towards the back, less asked for my opinion, and more pushed to shadow than to be hands on. Atlas Copco has taught me how to work in a professional environment, and at the end of my internship I was moved to customer service for a real paid job! I scan customer representative's orders into the file filing system, as well as helping them with special projects that come available to them. I am continuing working into the summer in a full time position! Atlas has given me so many opportunities to grow as a professional while being surrounded by the field I want to study, engineering!
